This video outlines twenty major claims from Dr. Vachon's textbook on the science of compassion, titled How Doctors Care: The Science of Compassionate and Balanced Caring in Medicine. Have any of you taken a CCIM class (Medical Counseling Skills, Spiritualities of Caring, Compassionate Care in Medicine, etc.)? If so, what was your biggest takeaway?

My biggest take away from the CCIM intro class with Dr. Vachon and Dr. Sandock was that the goal of medical professionals is to care for our patients and not necessarily to cure them (as it may feel from the external pressures from the system). When we 'switch the U to an A' our focus, priorities, and often times even conversations with patients switches from cUring to cAring.
