Our Mission
In collaboration with the Pathos Project and the Hillebrand Center for Compassionate Care in Medicine, the Compassionate Care in Medicine (CCIM) club is an extension that provides an outlet for future medical personnel to discuss compassion and personalism in medicine. Through coordinating a regular series of dialogues between student members and guest physicians as well as exploring film series, CCIM educates its members on pertinent issues in practical and personal patient care. CCIM also encourages and facilitates volunteer work at local sites where members can practice service focused on the individuals with whom they work.
About the Club
Established in Spring of 2013, we are an undergraduate club focused on help students become caring medical professionals within the lens of the science of compassion. CCIM strives to educate its members on the compassionate, spiritual, and emotional aspects of medicine. We are an extension of the Pathos Project Undergraduate Program (PPUP) and work in collaboration with the Ruth M. Hillebrand Center for Compassionate Care in Medicine to bring physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other health professionals to our meetings to speak about compassionate care. We hope our members leave each meeting with a greater passion for person-centered medicine.
